This guide compares AT&T TV Now vs. fuboTV. You can either scroll down for in-depth information, or use our Cord-Cutter Express tool to see how all the major streaming services stack up. Just answer a few quick questions and we’ll match you to the perfect streaming service, taking into account all of your watching preferences.

Though AT&T TV Now and fuboTV are both cheap compared to cable, fuboTV offers the better overall deal. AT&T TV Now was initially very cheap compared to fuboTV, but a recent price hike changed that. Now, fuboTV offers the cheapest budget plan.

On the other hand, AT&T TV Now tends to have better deals and discounts compared to fuboTV. If you’re an AT&T Unlimited subscriber, you may be able to find some good deals. And if you pay for three months of service in advance, you can sometimes get a free Apple TV 4K. Check the AT&T TV Now website to get more information about their latest deals.

fuboTV’s only promotion is a discount for your first month of fubo Premier. After that, the discount ends and you have to pay the regular cost.

Here’s a closer look at both streaming services’ subscription plans.

fuboTV

fuboTV and AT&T TV Now recently changed their subscription plan menus and implemented price hikes. fuboTV’s price hike wasn’t as bad as AT&T TV Now’s. The price of the cheapest plan increased from $45 to $55/month. The entry-level plan is now called fubo Standard. It comes with 90+ channels, which is more than channels compared to the cheaper plan that it replaced.

The pricier plans come with better features and extra channels. fubo Family, for example, comes with a 500-hour DVR and an extra simultaneous stream. The most expensive plan is fubo Ultra, and it comes with Showtime movie channels. You also get an add-on channel pack called fubo Extra.

AT&T TV Now

AT&T TV Now recently changed its entire subscription menu and increased prices across the board. The cheapest is called Plus. It costs $50, but comes with HBO and around 45 channels. Max has more than 60 channels and it costs $70, but comes with Cinemax and HBO.

In addition to AT&T TV Now’s two featured subscriptions, there are five additional plans to consider. None of them are cheap. With a plan called Entertainment, you can get more than 65 channels for $93/month. The next step up is Choice, which has 85+ channels and costs $110. Xtra has 105+ channels and costs $124/month. Other plans include Ultimate (125+ channels / $135 per month) and a Spanish-language plan called Optimo Mas (90+ channels / $86 per month).

Fact 2: AT&T TV Now Has More Channels

When it comes to total available channels, AT&T TV Now is king of the hill. You can get as many as 125 channels with the most expensive plan. On the other hand, fuboTV isn’t far behind. fubo Premier comes with 90+ channels — and if you buy all of fuboTV’s add-on packages, you can get well over 100 channels.

Here are some of the channels you can get with fuboTV:

  • Fox Soccer Plus, ChelseaTV, GolTV English, GolTV Spanish and TyC Sports
  • 6 regional Pac-12 channels, NFL RedZone, 3 Fox College Sports channels, GolTV English, GolTV Spanish, TyC Sports, FNTSY Sports Network and Fight Network
  • 9 different Showtime movie channels
  • GolTV Spanish, BTV, RTP International
  • GolTV Spanish, TyC Sports, Cine Sony, Fox Life, Nat Geo Mundo
  • GolTV Spanish, TyC Sports, BabyTV HD, Cine Sony, Fox Life, Nat Geo Mundo
  • fubo Cycling
  • BabyTV HD

AT&T TV Now only has a few different channel add-on packs. That means that you don’t have as many options as far as picking and choosing the channels you want to add.

AT&T TV Now has the edge when it comes to premium channels, as well. Premium channels that you can get through AT&T TV Now include HBO, Showtime and various STARZ movie channels. fuboTV has several Showtime movie channels, but lacks HBO and STARZ.

Fact 3: fuboTV Has More Sports Channels (but Not ESPN)

Though AT&T TV’s channel menu is bigger overall, no other internet TV service has more sports channels than fuboTV.

However, there is big gap in fuboTV’s sports lineup: ESPN. ESPN’s parent company Disney and fuboTV have not been able to reach an agreement, so fuboTV does not carry cable’s most popular sports channel. To make up for this, fuboTV has developed its own sports news channel called fubo Sports Network. Like ESPN, fubo Sports Network broadcasts sports-themed news and talk shows along and live sports events.

Despite the fact that ESPN is not on the menu, fuboTV does still have a very solid sports lineup. Here’s a small taste of some of the sports channels you can stream:

  • NBC Sports Network
  • NFL Network
  • Pac 12 Networks
  • Big 10 Network
  • CBS Sports Network
  • NBA TV
  • Fox Sports 1
  • Fox Sports 2
  • Big 10 Network
  • NBC Golf
  • Fox Desportes
  • Eleven Sports
  • Olympic Channel
  • Fox Soccer Plus
  • 10 different BeIN sports channels

If you’re willing to pay a bit more, you can add these channels:

  • NFL RedZone
  • 6 Pac 12 channels
  • 3 Fox College Sports channels
  • GolTV (English and Spanish)
  • TyC Sports
  • FNTSY Sports Network
  • Fight Network.

AT&T TV Now has a small but solid selection of sports channels– and ESPN is on the menu. Sports channels that come with AT&T TV Now include:

  • NBC Sports Network
  • CBS Sports Network
  • ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNEWS and ESPNU
  • Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2
  • Golf Channel
  • MLB Network
  • NBA TV
  • NHL Network
  • Olympic Channel
  • Sportsman Channel
  • SEC Network.

Fact 4: fuboTV Has Better Looking Streams

AT&T TV Now is one of the only internet services with 1080p / 60fps channels. On the other hand, fuboTV goes beyond this with support for 4K streams.

fuboTV recently started introducing 4K event streams. 4K streams contain nearly four times as much information compared to 1080p streams.

You can stream the following AT&T TV Now channels in 1080p / 60fps: CBS, CBS Sports, The Olympic Channel and POP.

Fact 5: AT&T TV Now Unlocks More Cable TV Apps

If you’ve ever visited a cable TV website or opened a cable TV app, you may have run into a screen that prompts you to enter TV Everywhere credentials.

Without full TVE access, you’re usually limited to short clips and bonus content. With compatible TVE credentials, however, you can watch full episodes of shows and sometimes even access live TV streams.

AT&T TV Now lets you unlock many TVE websites/apps:

  • Broadcast networks: ABC, Fox Now, NBC.
  • News: CNBC, BBC America, MSNBC Now, Viceland.
  • Movies: IFC, SundanceTV.
  • For kids: DisneyNOW, Nick, Nick Jr.
  • Sports: WatchESPN, BTN2GO, NBC Bay Area, NBC California, NBC Chicago, NBC Mid-Atlantic, NBC New England, CBS Sports, Fox Sports Go, MLB.com At Bat, MLB Network, FOX Sports Go, NBC Golf, The Olympic Channel, NBC Sports,
  • Arts and education: Nat Geo TV, FYI, History.
  • Lifestyle: Lifetime, A&E, BET, CMT, LOGO MAX GO, MTV, WEtv, VH1.
  • Entertainment: Freeform, Comedy Central, AMC, FX Now, Oxygen Now, SYFY Now, TV Land, Sprout Now, Bravo Now, HBO GO, Showtime Anytime, USA NOW, Paramount Network.
  • Spanish: Telemundo Now, UNIVERSO NOW.

Note: Some of the apps listed above won’t work with AT&T TV Now unless you buy the appropriate add-on. For example, you can’t unlock the HBO or Showtime apps unless you pay extra to add them to your AT&T TV Now plan.

fuboTV is not that far behind AT&T TV Now when it comes to TVE compatibility. fuboTV can unlock the following TVE websites/apps:

  • Broadcast networks: CBS, NBC, CBSN, Fox Now.
  • News: CNBC, Viceland, MSNBC.
  • Movies: None.
  • For kids: None.
  • Sports: beIN SPORTS, beIN SPORTS en Español, BTN2Go, Olympic Channel, Fox Sports Go, MSG Go, Pac-12, NBC Sports.
  • Arts and education: Nat Geo TV, FYI, History.
  • Lifestyle: A&E, E! Now, Esquire TV Now, Lifetime.
  • Entertainment: Hallmark Channel Everywhere, FXNOW, UDN, Oxygen Now, Syfy Now, Sprout Now, Bravo Now, USA Now.
  • Spanish: Galavision, Universo Now, UniMas, Univision.

Note: You can’t unlock the MSG Go app unless you get the MSG (Madison Square Garden) channel through FuboTV. Currently, only New Yorkers can get MSG. The same principle applies to fuboTV’s other apps as well. If you don’t have the channel, you can’t unlock the app.

Both AT&T TV Now and fuboTV are always adding support for new TVE apps. These are handy because they let you extend the amount of simultaneous streams you can access. Streams opened through TVE apps don’t count against your limit when you use the main AT&T TV Now / fuboTV apps. Check both services’ websites to get an updated list of what kind of TVE apps are available.

Fact 6: AT&T TV Now Has Better Recording Features

Most internet TV services have cloud DVRs (Digital Video Recorders). DVRs let you record TV content and save your recordings to the internet.

AT&T TV Now has the edge here now, since all new subscribers get 500 hours of DVR space. This is a huge upgrade compared to the initial version of AT&T TV Now, which didn’t have any recording features at all.

fuboTV’s DVR lets you record 30 hours of content and keep it as long as you want. In addition, you can upgrade to 500 hours of recording time for an extra fee.

Fact 7: Both Services Have Weak Account Sharing Features

If you intend to share your internet TV service with your family, you may find both fuboTV and AT&T TV Now to be somewhat restrictive.

AT&T TV Now limits you to two simultaneous streams. It added a paid option for upgrading to 3 simultaneous streams last spring, though.

fuboTV gives you to two streams by default, but you can get a 3rd simultaneous stream by buying an upgrade.

Fact 8: AT&T TV Now Has a Much Bigger On-demand Library

AT&T TV Now said that it had 25,000 on-demand shows and movies last year and that number increased to 35,000 a few months later.

The fuboTV website doesn’t say exactly how much on-demand content you get when you subscribe. However, last time we checked out fuboTV’s on-demand library we only found a small selection of titles.

Fact 9: AT&T TV Now Doesn’t Have an Android TV App

If you have an Android TV, you’ll have to either sideload the AT&T TV Now Android app or find some other way to tune into AT&T TV Now.

Fact 10: They Both Lack Game Console Apps

AT&T TV Now and fuboTV both lack PlayStation/Xbox apps. Both services, however, have apps for most mainstream devices.

AT&T TV Now apps include:

  • Living room devices: Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast and Roku.
  • Smart TVs and Blu-ray players: None.
  • Mobile devices and tablets: Android and iOS.
  • Game consoles: None.
  • Desktop browsers: Chrome and Safari.

fuboTV apps

  • Living room devices: Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Chromecast and Roku.
  • Smart TVs and Blu-ray players: None.
  • Mobile devices and tablets: Android and iOS.
  • Game consoles: None.
  • Desktop browsers: Chrome is recommended.

Fact 11: They Both Have 7-day Free Trials

Still not sure which is right for you? Try them both out yourself and see what you think.

The answer depends on how much you like sports, how picky you are about picture quality– and how much you trust AT&T to deliver on the promises it made at the beginning of this year.

If you’ve been reluctant to cut the cord because you don’t want to miss out on sports action, fuboTV could be the streaming service you’ve been waiting for. Otherwise, AT&T TV Now is a much better deal.
