The FOX family of TV channels includes not just local FOX networks, Fox Sports, and FX. You can also enjoy FX, FX+, and FXX. As with most FOX networks, you can watch FXX without cable as long as you have the right streaming services.

Below, we’ll explore your top 6 options to watch FXX without cable.

Low-Cost Options to Watch FXX Without Cable

In the past, FX and FXX were among a long list of TV channels that were only available on traditional cable. Considering some US households are paying over $1,300 a year thanks to the slow creep of traditional cable TV costs, it makes more sense than ever to finally get rid of cable so you can watch FXX and other cable TV channels at a much lower cost.

If you want to cut the cord for FXX, you can do so with the following low-cost “skinny” bundle TV services:

All of these options, of course, carry more than just FXX. You’ll be able to watch FXX without cable as well as several dozen other channels through each one. Some of these services, like fuboTV, for example, even offer 80-100 channels or more for, all for less than you’ll pay with a traditional cable subscription.

Let’s explore each of these services in more detail so that you can decide which one may be right for you.

fubotv fxx without cable

fuboTV started as a sports streaming service. Since its founding, however, it’s grown into one of the best cable TV alternative services on the market. Not only does it offer FXX, but also FX, FOX channels, and more.

Channels and pricing

fuboTV has two simple channel packages for you to choose from:

  • Fubo: 80+ channels for $45/month
  • Fubo Extra: 100+ channels for $50/month

The “fubo” package is all you need to get FXX without cable. Through that option, you’ll get around 80 or more channels, depending on where you live. You’ll also find History, A&E, Discovery, TruTV, and other entertainment channels in the mix. Additionally, you’ll get a large number of sports networks, including FOX Sports, CBS Sports, NBC Sports Network, beIN Sports, Big Ten Network, and more.

Features

fuboTV’s price may seem a bit high compared to an extremely low-cost service like Sling TV (which comes in at $25 per month). However, you get a few key features that help sweeten the deal.

For the price, fuboTV includes the option to watch on two devices at the same time. If you have a larger number of users in your house, you can up that to 3 simultaneous streams for an extra $5.99 per month.

fuboTV also offers a cloud DVR service. You’ll be able to record up to 30 hours of video without any additional costs. As with the simultaneous streams, if that included limit is too small, you can tack on their Cloud DVR Plus add-on for an extra $9.99 per month. That will boost your streaming limit to a rather impressive 500 hours.

Device support is important, and fuboTV has native apps for a large number of industry-leading devices. You’ll be able to download and stream from apps on the Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Chromecast. You can also stream from Android and iOS devices, as well as directly from your web browser.

You can give fuboTV a trial run free for 7 days.

Sling TV fxx without cable

One of the cheapest options on the market, Sling TV offers FXX as well as several other FOX-owned networks.

Channels and pricing

Sling TV offers three channel packages for new subscribers. Two of these are $25/month, while the other combines the Sling Orange + Blue packages at $40 per month:

Sling Orange Sling Blue Sling Orange + Blue
Price $25 $25 $40
Channels 30+ 40+ 50+
Simultaneous Streams 1 3 4*
ESPN Yes No Yes
Fire TV Support Yes Yes Yes
Roku Support Yes Yes Yes
Special Offers FREE ROKU DEAL FREE ROKU DEAL FREE ROKU DEAL

* You get one stream with Sling Orange and up to 3 simultaneous streams with Sling Blue.

Between these three options, the one you’ll need/want is Sling Blue. Sling Blue offers FOX-branded channels as its standard, to include FXX, FX, local FOX affiliates, and FOX Sports. You’ll also be able to watch other must-have entertainment networks, like Bravo, History, AMC and more.

Features

Because it has a rock-bottom price, Sling TV’s features are a bit more lacking without additional fees. That said, because you’re opting for Sling Blue to get FXX without cable, you also get to enjoy a bit of a better deal.

Sling Blue provides users with up to 3 simultaneous streams per account. That’s more than industry standard (which is 2), and more than you’d get with Sling Orange (only 1). You can’t increase the number of streams, however.

As for video recording, Sling TV does not include a cloud DVR with any of its streaming channel packages. You can, however, add a 50-hour cloud DVR for an additional $5/month, which is fairly cheap. If your goal is to get Sling TV with DVR, you’ll be at $30/month, which is still less than any other service on our list by a large margin.

Sling TV also has great device support. Almost every streaming device you can think of has a native app, including Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and more. There are also apps for LG Smart TVs, as well as Android and iOS devices.

Sling TV offers a 7-day free trial for any of its streaming packages.

Hulu With Live TV

fxx without cable

Hulu with Live TV is an interesting option to watch FXX without cable. Not only do you get 50+ live TV channels through Hulu with Live TV, you also get Hulu’s huge on-demand content library, which includes hit movies, TV shows, and a very large selection of cartoons.

Channels and pricing

Hulu avoids over-complicating the package selection. The service offers just one basic channel package: 50+ channels for $39.99 per month.

Through that, you’ll get FXX, FX, and local FOX affiliates, as well as a large number of other popular cable TV channels. Hulu with Live TV carries History, Discovery, HGTV, SYFY, TLC, and more. It also provides access to popular sports networks like ESPN.

Features

Hulu’s features are surprisingly good for the price. The best feature is one we already mentioned: access to the entire on-demand library for no additional fee. However, there are more great features with this service.

For the price, you’ll get up to 2 simultaneous streams per account. You can increase that to 3 streams outside of your home network using Hulu’s Unlimited Screens add-on, at a cost of $14.99 per month. That sounds a bit expensive, but the Unlimited Screens plan allows you to stream on an unlimited number of devices on your home network, so anyone in your house can watch whatever they want.

There’s also a rather beefy 50-hour cloud DVR that comes with the service and is included in the standard price. That can also be increased (up to 200 hours) with a $14.99 Enhanced Cloud DVR add-on. If you happen to want both the Unlimited Screens and Enhanced Cloud DVR add-ons, you can combine them for $20/month.

Hulu also has great device support. The expected options are available (Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, iOS and Android, etc.). In addition, you can also download and stream the device on Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch.

Hulu offers a 7-day free trial to new subscribers.

fxx without cable

Google’s entry into the cable TV alternatives market is pretty solid. YouTube TV offers an approach similar to Hulu, but with a few distinct differences.

Channels and pricing

Like Hulu with Live TV, YouTube TV makes your selection process easy by only offering one channel package. You can get YouTube TV for just $40 per month. At that price, you’ll get FXX without cable, as well as 60+ other channels in most regions.

Alongside FXX, you’ll be able to enjoy popular channels such as FX, FXM, AMC, History, and BBC America, ESPN, FOX Sports, and more.

Features

YouTube TV has some of the best features of any service on this list. For starters, YouTube TV offers the option to create up to 6 individual user profiles. Each profile users gets their own settings and recommendations, as well as their own cloud DVR.

As far as cloud DVR goes, YouTube TV offers an extensive 9 months of unlimited video recording. For every profile user! That means everyone sharing your account can record as much as they want, and videos won’t start to expire for a full 9 months.

YouTube TV subscribers will also get up to 3 simultaneous streams per account. So while all 6 profile users won’t be able to watch at the same time, half of them can.

You can also use YouTube TV on a large number of devices. Roku, Apple TV, and Android TV devices are supported, as is Chromecast, Android and iOS devices. You can also stream on the Xbox One, Windows, and Mac computers.

YouTube TV is available with a 7-day free trial. That is if you can get it. This is the only service on our list that is not yet available across the entire United States, though it’s available in most large metro regions.

PlayStation Vue provides high-quality service to subscribers, with family-friendly features and a range of customizable cable channel packages.

Channels and pricing

Unfortunately, PlayStation Vue doesn’t have a simplified channel package. However, it’s not as complex as it looks. You can choose from one of 4 potential packages:

  • Access: 45+ channels, $45/month
  • Core: 60+ channels, $50/month
  • Elite: 80+ channels,  $60/month
  • Ultra: All Elite channels plus HBO/Showtime, $80/month

The lower-cost “Access” package is all you need to get FXX through PlayStation Vue. For $45/month, you’ll get 45 or more channels, depending on where you live.

Features

PlayStation Vue is kind of a no-brainer if you own a PlayStation, but you can use it without a PlayStation. In fact, the service has apps available for most streaming devices, including Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV. You can also download apps for iOS and Android devices, or stream directly over the web.

The main reason to use PlayStation Vue is for its features. You’ll get up to 10 individual user profiles with this service, far exceeding even YouTube TV’s impressive feature option. In addition, each profile user gets his or her own cloud DVR and user settings.

PlayStation Vue allows users to stream on up to 5 devices at once, which is far more than any other option on the market. And each profile user gets their own 28-day cloud DVR. That’s a rather small DVR limit, but thankfully Sony allows for unlimited recording, so you can save as many videos you want. They’ll just expire rather quickly compared to other services.

PlayStation Vue is available with a 5-day free trial.

We round off our list with DirecTV Now. Although particularly well known and one of the most-used options on the market, it’s not the best. That said, DirecTV Now has been working on improving its previously lackluster features, thanks to stiff competition in the internet TV market.

Channels and pricing

You can get FXX through DirecTV Now’s “Live a Little” package. That package comes at a cost of just $40 per month and provides 65+ channels. In all, DirecTV Now offers 4 channel packages:

  • Live A Little: 65+ channels, $40/month
  • Just Right: 85+ channels, $55/month
  • Go Big: 105+ channels, $65/month
  • Gotta Have It: 125+ channels, $75/month

You’ll only need to explore the other options if “Live a Little” doesn’t have the additional channels you want. However, with 65+ channels, including History, AMC, A&E, FX, ESPN and more, you’ll likely have most of the channels you want with the $40/month package.

Features

DirecTV Now’s weak spot continues to be its features, although the service has been working to improve them.

You’ll be able to stream on 2 devices at once with DirecTV Now, which is industry standard. You can increase that to 3 streams for an extra $5 per month.

However, the service significantly falls behind when it comes to cloud DVR. You’ll get a 20-hour cloud DVR, which is already quite small, but DirecTV Now also restricts videos to a 30-day expiration date as well. As a result, DirecTV Now has worst cloud DVR on the market.

Beyond that, DirecTV Now has fairly good device coverage. Almost every device you may want to use has a native app, and you can stream directly on the web through Windows and Mac.

DirecTV Now offers a 7-day free trial for subscribers.
