Philo carries around 60 different live TV channels across a variety of entertainment and lifestyle genres. For fans of PeopleTV and networks like it, though, Philo may be one of the best options out there. The cost is low, and the service comes packed with nice features that make it an attractive option.

Philo Pricing and Packages

While there are free options available for PeopleTV (listed later), Philo’s $20 per month cost is incredibly inexpensive, especially if you’re cutting the cord on traditional cable TV.

59 Channels
7-day free trial
$20.00/ month

59 channels

3 simultaneous streams

30-Day DVR

Philo’s low cost for top-tier cable TV channels is made possible because it’s laser-focused on entertainment networks. As such, there’s are no sports networks in its single package, and only a small number of news networks (but no major US cable news operators). The service also excludes local broadcast networks like ABC, CBS, or FOX, as those contribute significantly to the price of traditional cable packages.

Philo Channels

PeopleTV is one of many channels like it in the Philo line-up. You’ll also get well-known networks like HGTV, Discovery Channel, Tastemade, FYI, Discovery Family, Travel Channel, and many more.

Philo Supported Devices

This service came on the market just a few years ago with a limited number of apps. In recent months, it’s added more widespread device support, indicating an effort to keep customers happy. You can now stream Philo on the most popular TV-connected streaming devices, like Roku and Amazon Fire TV, and natively on iOS or Android devices.

  • TV streaming media players: Apple TV (4th gen and up), Amazon Fire TV (all models), and Roku (all current models)
  • Smart TVs: Android TV (5.0 and up)
  • Mobile devices and tablets: Android (5.0 or higher), iOS (10.3 and up)
  • Gaming consoles: None
  • Desktop browsers: Most Mac and PC browsers

Philo Simultaneous Streams

While Philo allows you to create up to 10 different user profiles, you can stream simultaneously on up to 3 profiles at once. Any device that offers Philo support can be used to stream. Philo will give a warning when you’ve hit your simultaneous streaming limit.

Philo DVR

All 10 available Philo profiles can record an unlimited number of TV shows or movies. All recordings will expire after 30 days.

Philo On-Demand Library

As Philo carries a large mixture of channels, you’ll get a large amount of on-demand content as well. Much of that content is made available almost immediately after airing, even if you don’t save it to your DVR. And many TV shows and movies are available almost indefinitely, although what content is made available outside of your DVR depends on the network offering it and not Philo. Movies, TV shows, and the occasional sporting event on those channels which offer them (such as Paramount Network) are available to stream on-demand.

Free Options to Watch PeopleTV Live Without Cable

PeopleTV is available through more than just Philo and fuboTV. A handful of free options exist that will let you watch PeopleTV live without cable.

Xumo is a free, ad-supported multi-channel streaming service. Available on the web and through apps on select devices, Xumo offers live streaming from PeopleTV and many unique single-themed channels you won’t find anywhere else. It’s also a great source for live and on-demand TV news.

This service is very similar to Xumo. PlutoTV has a channel specifically for live PeopleTV broadcasts. It also offers pared-down content from major networks, including Comedy Central. As with Xumo, you can access a wide variety of channels focusing on specific genres, and a large selection of national and international news.

This service designed solely for Apple devices is very similar to Amazon Channels. You can add PeopleTV to your channels list and watch those channels live. That includes PeopleTV, which you can add to your AppleTV line-up for free.

Why Choose FuboTV or Philo for PeopleTV?

You’ll find that there are a wide range of free ways to access PeopleTV live without cable. For example, both Xumo and PlutoTV are multi-channel streaming services that charge nothing at all and have fully-functional apps. So why choose Philo or FuboTV versus a free service?

  1. Philo and fuboTV have more features

You’ll quickly discover that while options like PlutoTV and Xumo deliver PeopleTV and other networks for free, they also don’t provide any additional features. You can record content, and you won’t get access to any type of customer service should the services go down.

2. Philo and fuboTV have fewer ads

As with any cable TV channel, there are ads. Even with traditional cable, the channels you get will broadcast ads. However, free services like PlutoTV and Xumo will show you a larger number of ads during the stream because those services are 100% add supported.

3. Philo and fuboTV offer greater device support

Free options have limited device support because they have fewer resources devoted to developing apps. You won’t be able to stream on as many devices or operating system versions as a result.

Of course, all of these points are stipulated on the fact that you’re in it for more than just PeopleTV. If all you care about is getting PeopleTV, then a free option might be the best. And in that case, you may just want to load up the single-purpose app for iOS, Android, Chromecast, or any of the other devices listed below.

How to Watch PeopleTV on Amazon Fire TV

You can watch PeopleTV on Amazon Fire TV using apps for the following services: PhilofuboTV, Xumo, PlutoTV. Amazon Fire TV also carries a separate app for PeopleTV that you can use to watch the channel live without any of the above services in place.

How to Watch PeopleTV on Roku

You can watch Law & Crime on the Roku using apps for the following services: PhilofuboTV, Xumo, PlutoTV. Each app can be downloaded free through the Roku Channels store. There’s also a separate PeopleTV Roku app for individual channel streaming.

How to Watch PeopleTV on Apple TV

You can watch PeopleTV on Apple TV devices using apps for the following services: PhilofuboTV, Xumo, PlutoTV.  As with Amazon Fire TV and Roku, a separate channel app for PeopleTV is available to download onto Apple TV devices.
